Hoy hemos visitado Montserrat .
Today we visited Montserrat .This mountain (one hour far from home by car) is home to one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations: the Shrine of Our Lady of Montserrat. The Sanctuary was built around the image, which according to the legend of the discovery of the statue, first recorded in the 13th century, the statue was discovered by shepherds. They saw a bright light and heard heavenly music that eventually led them to the grotto and the statue.
Montserrat was thought in the Middle Ages to have been the site of the castle which contained the Holy Grail.

Susi, Pep's mom had promised the virgin a candle if his husband recovered from an illness.
The Moreneta is an image of the black virgin venerated in the Shrine of Montserrat, a twelfth-century carving.
The Moreneta is a statue of the Virgin Mary venerated at the Montserrat Sanctuary. It Was made in the 12th century.
